Google Sheets can be used as:

  • Lead flow destination
  • Audience flow source

Content requirements

In order to be able to use your Google Sheets, you need to bear in mind that in the sheet containing the data, the first row (starting on the first column) must contain the headers or field names that will be used for the mapping when adjusting your flows.

Connecting your account

Connecting your Google Sheets account with Ads Workbench is really simple. You just need to follow these steps:

  • Go on the left menu  -> Integrations
  • Click on the button “Create new”
  • Enter a name for the integration and select “Google Sheets” from the Type dropdown list
  • Click on the button “Authorize”
  • Ads Workbench will redirect you to Google screen asking you to authorize “Ads Workbench” to access your sheets content.
  • If you haven’t started a Google session with the current browser, you will be prompted to sign in, but if you have signed in with multiple Google accounts with the current browser, you will see those accounts and will be prompted to pick the one you want to use, so you can continue with the authorization.
  • Once Google request the authorization click on the button “Allow”
  • Finally click on the button “Save”

Selecting a sheet

Once you have created your Google Sheet integration, you can use it either a destination for your lead flows or a source for you audience flows. In both cases when adjusting your flows to select a specific sheet you will need to provide:

  • Spreadsheet ID: this ID is the value between “/d” and “/edit” in the URL of your spreadsheet. For instance, in the URL https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CxZexDFlxHiUyfb4xbAcMFXvccpiSAftdrWf0pmmA1k/edit the spreadsheet ID would be 1CxZexDFlxHiUyfb4xbAcMFXvccpiSAftdrWf0pmmA1k
  • Sheet name: this is the name of the sheet (case sensitive) in the spreadsheet that you want to use

After entering both values, you will have to click on the button “Pull headers” to verify the connection and to pull the header information that is required for the mapping of your fields in your spreadsheet.

Creating a lead flow

A lead flow is an automation that allows you to collect the leads coming from a source and send them to multiple destinations. Once your ad account is connected and your have created the integrations for the systems where the leads will be sent, you can create you lead flow as described in the following video:

An audience flow is an automation that allows you to keep fresh your custom audiences using as an input your subscribers' or contacts' data. Once your ad account is connected and your have created the integrations for the systems where your contacts' data is stored you can create you audience flow as described in the following video:
